Lighthouse BIkes

Lighthouse Bikes rents bikes, runs guided bike tours, and repairs and sells bicycles from a shop at 37 Ocean Street in South Portland. Rentals include road bikes, beach cruisers, gravel bikes, city bikes and adult tricycles, and the shop is an authorized Jamis dealer and a Worksman dealer that also sells used and vintage bikes. The repair team handles everything from annual tune-ups to hydraulic brake bleeds.

Tours run two, three or five hours and cover beaches, historic forts and lighthouses in South Portland and Cape Elizabeth, with a custom option and a themed route focused on Maine coastal artists. Rentals come with helmets and locks, and children's bikes are available if you call ahead to reserve. The shop is open 9 to 5 every day, and the founder, Leah Day, is one of the people you'll likely meet at the counter.
