Our Local Spotlight

These Terms govern your use of Our Local Spotlight (“OLS,” “we,” “us”), a platform operated by 9x12 Method LLC, 27 Atlantic Ave, York, ME 03909 — including the digital community cards you scan, the offers you unlock, our local business directories, and the emails or texts you choose to receive. By using OLS or submitting your information through one of our forms, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you’re a business partner advertising with us, your subscription and partnership are additionally governed by the Partner Terms. If you manage a business listing in our directory or buy a Featured listing, the sections For businesses in the directory and Featured listings below also apply.

What Our Local Spotlight is

OLS publishes digital versions of local community postcards. Each card features offers from nearby businesses. You can scan a card, browse the offers, and — when you’re ready to use one — tap “Activate” to unlock it. Activating an offer is a signal that you intend to use it; it is not a purchase, and OLS does not process any payment for the offers.

Your information and who controls it

When you submit your details, you are joining Our Local Spotlight. OLS — not any single business — collects and controls your information and uses it to deliver local offers and deals from OLS and participating businesses in your area, as described in our Privacy Policy. A participating business receives your contact details only when you affirmatively choose to share them with that business.

Email and text messages

Marketing emails and texts are optional and require your explicit, separate opt-in — they are never pre-checked, and your consent to texts is never a condition of redeeming an offer. You can opt out of email any time using the unsubscribe link in every message, and of texts by replying STOP. Message and data rates may apply to texts.

Offers come from the business

Each offer is provided and honored by the local business that created it, not by OLS. The business sets the terms, value, and any fine print, and is responsible for fulfilling the offer. OLS isn’t responsible for a business’s decision to honor, change, or discontinue an offer, and offers may end or sell out.

The local directory

OLS publishes local business directories, town by town. Listings are built from information businesses publish themselves, such as their own website, and from what business owners add. We work to keep listings accurate, but hours, prices and other details can change, so check with the business before you rely on them. A listing is not an endorsement or a recommendation by OLS. Featured listings are paid placements and are labeled “Featured.”

For businesses in the directory

Any business can claim or add its listing for free. By doing so, you confirm that you own the business or are authorized to manage it. We verify claims (for example, with an email address at the business’s own website) and may decline or remove a claim we can’t confirm.

You’re responsible for what you add to your listing. It must be accurate and lawful, and you must have the right to use any photos, logos and text you upload. You give us permission to display, resize and format that content on Our Local Spotlight, and in links and previews shared from it, for as long as it’s part of your listing.

We may edit or remove listings or content that are inaccurate, misleading, or break these Terms. If you’d rather not be listed, you can hide your listing from your business page, or email us and we’ll take it down.

You may show the Our Local Spotlight badge on your website to link to your listing. Please don’t alter it, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests a different relationship with us.

Featured listings

Featured is an optional paid upgrade for a listing, priced at $49 a month or $490 a year, plus any applicable tax. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card details.

It renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel.
Cancel anytime from your business page. Featured stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
No refunds for partial periods, except where the law requires them.
Price changes: we’ll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you like.
If a payment fails and isn’t resolved, Featured ends and your listing goes back to a free listing.
Featured changes where and how your listing appears. It doesn’t guarantee any number of views, calls, requests or customers.

Quote requests and messages

Some listings let you send a quote request. Your message, name and contact details go to the people who manage that business so they can reply. The business, not OLS, is responsible for its reply, its prices and its work. Please don’t use these forms to send spam, advertising or anything unlawful.

Acceptable use

Please use OLS honestly. Don’t submit someone else’s information, add or claim a business you don’t represent, send automated or bulk submissions through our forms, attempt to defraud a business, scrape or abuse the service, or interfere with its operation. We may suspend access that violates these Terms.

No warranty; limits

OLS is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OLS is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or from any offer.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We record the version in effect when you consented, so we always know what you agreed to. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
