Jan's Place

Jan's Place is a small neighborhood bar and high-fidelity listening lounge with a large collection of vinyl records, played on a high-end sound system in an acoustically treated room. The drinks list covers local craft beer on tap, local cider, sake and around a hundred wines, including natural wines. The light food menu includes tinned fish, stuffed grape leaves and a few salty snacks.

The room is low-key and music-forward, with a Japanese kissa-inspired feel, and a rotating crew of DJs and record collectors chooses what plays. The music stays at a polite volume. The space is small, so groups of five or more can be hard to seat and may need to split up. Bottles of wine can be taken to go at retail pricing. Guests must be 21 or over, and pets are not allowed. The bar is in downtown Paso Robles, down a side alley.
