Old Sugar Distillery

Old Sugar Distillery makes its spirits in house, in a pot still that its founder had built in Arkansas, with brandies, whiskies and rums as its focus. The base spirits are finished in American oak barrels coopered in Minnesota, and the cocktail menu has grown over the years. Gift boxes, including one with an Old Fashioned kit, are sold through the website.

The tasting room on East Main Street in Madison is open Thursday through Saturday evenings, with later hours on Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon tours start at 1:30 PM and can be booked online. The distillery also hosts private events, and the building runs on rooftop solar panels and green power from Madison Gas & Electric.
