Ba Lao

Ba Lao is a small bar from the team behind Ahan, serving a curated drink menu and a set of snacks made with locally sourced produce and liquor. Co-owners Chef Jamie Brown-Soukaseume and Chuckie Brown-Soukaseume opened it in 2026 as a close-knit space for Ahan customers and the neighborhood. Jamie is a Madison College Culinary Arts graduate who has cooked in Madison since 2011, and Chuckie is a longtime local musician and bar professional.

The kitchen is open Thursday through Saturday evenings, and takeout orders are accepted by phone. The menus include dinner, drinks and a happy hour list. Ba Lao is on Williamson Street in the Willy Street and Marquette neighborhood on Madison's near east side.
