Freedom From Fear

Freedom From Fear is a national non-profit mental health advocacy organization founded in 1984 by Mary Guardino on Staten Island. It works through advocacy, education, research and community support for people affected by anxiety, depression and related disorders. Its affiliated treatment center, Clinical Management Consultants, treats anxiety disorders, major depression and bipolar disorder in children, adolescents and adults.

The group also helps people connect with providers, and it can point those seeking care for substance abuse, schizophrenia or other serious mental illness toward other facilities. Psychiatrists and therapists currently have openings for new patients. To make an initial appointment, call the office, and leave a message if no one is available so someone can return the call. Office hours are weekday afternoons, and the office is closed on weekends. The group serves residents across the five boroughs, New York State and New Jersey.
