Swerve

Swerve Driving School teaches teen and adult drivers in Washington, covering the state knowledge test, road tests, new driver courses and private driving lessons. Its Ballard location, at 1104 NW 85th Street, also offers electronic knowledge testing in 12 languages on a personal phone or tablet, with retakes at half price.

Teen students can take a new driver package with classroom hours, behind-the-wheel lessons and drive observation, and teens who finish the course get discounted testing. Adult lessons are one hour and can be booked through the customer portal, with a discount on additional lessons after the first. Lessons and road tests run seven days a week, and cancellations less than 24 hours ahead forfeit the lesson. Students need a Washington permit or an out-of-state license to take lessons, and the school's own vehicles are fully insured.
