Northwest Outdoor Center, known locally as NWOC, is a paddling school, rental shop and kayak retailer founded in 1980 by five paddling entrepreneurs. It is best known for its classes, rentals and sales, from beginner instruction and rescue courses to whitewater training, and it sells kayaking accessories it has used personally.
About 100 kayaks and paddle boards are available to rent right from the docks on Lake Union. Rentals are launched on a schedule, with the last launch 90 minutes before closing, and renters arrive 15 minutes early to check in. The shop is at 2100 Westlake Avenue North in Seattle, and it accepts bookings and gift cards online.
