A neighborhood gym where workouts generate electricity for the building828 SE 34th Avenue, Suite B, Portland, OR

The Green Microgym Belmont is a 3,000-square-foot neighborhood gym with cardio equipment, strength machines and a small selection of free weights. Its ellipticals and spin bikes are retrofitted to convert the energy of the people using them into electricity that feeds back into the building, with the goal of generating as much power as it uses. It suits neighbors who want a simple, friendly place to work out without the crowds and long contracts of larger gyms.
Memberships are month-to-month with no long-term contracts, and the gym uses punch code access so members can come in during its long daily hours. Individual and couple rates are offered, with a one-time initiation fee and a full refund if you cancel within a few weeks. Personal training is currently suspended. Tours are arranged by email, and the gym is on SE 34th Avenue in Portland's Belmont district, within walking or biking distance of the neighborhood.
