Hiking, fishing and boat rentals at an East Bay reservoir375 11th Street, Oakland, CA

Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area is a year-round, day-use park run by the East Bay Municipal Utility District. It is known for hiking on its loop trails, fishing for trout, bass and catfish, and rowing or pedal boat rentals on the water. Picnic tables and BBQ grills are available on a first-come basis, and several picnic areas can be reserved online.
The park is open every day, including holidays, with hours that shift through the year. Parking costs $7 per day or $1 per half hour, and fishing requires a state license plus an EBMUD Fishing Access Permit from the Visitor Center. Dogs are welcome on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Swimming and body contact with the water are not allowed, and the park's Visitor Center closes before the park does.
