BlueSkies for Children

BlueSkies for Children is a private, nonprofit early childhood program that cares for about 92 children from 2 months to 5 years old across six classrooms. Its approach blends the nurturing of a home with the enrichment of a preschool, with play-based learning, wholesome meals prepared on site, and routines that help children feel secure. The program has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 2005, and it is described as the only NAEYC-accredited childcare center in Oakland.

Families can expect the program to serve working parents, with classrooms split between the Hedco Infant Toddler Center and the Ellen Sherwood Nursery School. Staff provide diapers, help with toilet training, and offer parenting classes and counseling to families. Hours run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, and the center is at 3021 Brookdale Avenue in Oakland.
