Community bike shop teaching bicycle repair and maintenance31 S Mills St, Madison, WI

Freewheel is a nonprofit community bike shop that teaches people to build, repair and maintain their own bicycles. Its core work is mechanical classes offered on a sliding scale fee, and it also runs open shops where people can bring their own bike or work on donated bikes with experienced instructors on hand. The organization says all skill levels are welcome, from beginner to experienced.
The shop is located at 31 S. Mills St., next to the Neighborhood House Community Center in Madison. Open shop sessions run from noon to 4 pm on the first and third Sunday of each month, and cancellations are posted on the calendar and social media. Freewheel gratefully accepts donations of bikes and parts in any condition, and may be able to pick them up in the Madison area.
