Citadel BJJ

Citadel BJJ teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to adults and kids in Iowa City, with a focus on grappling technique for self defense, sport competition, and training for life. Head coach Matt Leighton is a BJJ black belt who competes, and the gym has a wrestling program led by coach James Kelly. Students don't have to compete; the daily classes do not include kicking or punching.

New students can sign up for a free trial class through the website or by phone. Beginners are asked to bring comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle and ID, and to arrive 15 minutes before their first class so a coach can answer questions and show the new facility. The gym is at 2325 Naples Ave in Iowa City.
