Grounds For Celebration

Grounds For Celebration is a neighborhood coffee shop that roasts its coffee in-house. Drip coffee, espresso drinks, loose leaf teas and smoothies are served alongside fresh pastries, cinnamon rolls, scones and house-made quiche. Breakfast sandwiches come on biscuits, muffins or ciabatta, and the case also holds cookies, bars and carrot cake.

The coffeehouse was started in 1994 by Jan and George and changed hands at the start of 2026. Whole bean and ground coffee is sold by the pound, and gift cards work at any of its three locations. The Beaverdale shop in Des Moines is one of them, with others in Windsor Heights and West Des Moines.
