Housing Authority of the County of Lackawanna

The Housing Authority of the County of Lackawanna runs public housing and the Housing Choice Voucher program, which provides rental subsidies for about 700 families. Its inventory includes 1,113 public housing units spread across nineteen developments. It also offers a Family Self Sufficiency program and recruits private landlords to take part in the voucher program.

The main office in Dunmore is open on weekdays with a midday lunch closure, and public housing applications are picked up there. Waiting lists for the studio through three-bedroom public housing units and for the voucher program are closed, while the four-bedroom public housing list remains open. Landlords with property in Lackawanna County, outside Scranton and Carbondale, can call the office about joining the voucher program. The agency is an equal housing opportunity provider.
