Essential Mobility

Essential Mobility sells and installs stairlifts, home elevators, platform lifts and wheelchair lifts, including outdoor and hillside stairlifts for steep Central Coast homes. The company also sells and rents mobility scooters and power wheelchairs, and repairs most major brands, including equipment it did not install. The business is run by its owner, James Sainsbury, as a family operation.

Visits start with a free in-home assessment, after which the company recommends a solution and gives a quote. Straight stairlifts can often be installed the same week, while Stiltz home elevators are freestanding, need no shaft or pit, and usually take about two days to install. Scooter and power wheelchair rentals are delivered across San Luis Obispo County by the day, week or month. Based in San Luis Obispo, the company serves San Luis Obispo County and, on request, Santa Barbara County.
