Bambu Batu

Bambu Batu is a bamboo consultancy and information resource founded in 2006 by author and eco-entrepreneur Fred Hornaday. It is known for practical guidance on growing, managing and building with bamboo, along with detailed illustrated guides on cultivation, treatment and construction that sell for $9 each. Consulting covers plantation planning, bamboo sourcing, value addition and carbon accounting for clients in many countries.

Work is arranged through one-on-one consultations and trainings, and interested clients can reach out directly to book an introductory call. The business started as a small eco-boutique on Broad Street in San Luis Obispo, selling bamboo clothing, furniture and kitchenware until 2020. The team now works remotely, and the website keeps a large library of articles on bamboo species and uses for readers who want to learn more.
