Prenatal and postpartum massage by a certified specialist602 Brighton Avenue, Portland, ME
Julia Costello, a licensed massage therapist since 2014, limits her practice to women before, during, and after pregnancy. Prenatal sessions can start in the first trimester and include the feet and ankles, with clients positioned face down on adjustable orthopedic cushions or semi-reclined with pillows later in pregnancy. Postpartum massage is recommended within the first week or so after birth and then every other week until 16 weeks postpartum.
Appointments are required, and the schedule typically fills about 90 days out, so booking several sessions at a time helps. Last-minute openings are posted on social media. Full-body sessions run 60 to 90 minutes, and a doctor's note is usually not needed unless the pregnancy is high-risk. Babies are welcome at postpartum visits. The studio is in Portland, Maine, and parking is in the driveway behind the building.
