Olympic-style amateur boxing training for all ages and levelsPO Box 644, Portland, ME
Portland Boxing Club is a nonprofit amateur boxing gym that trains Olympic-style boxing for registered athletes under USA Boxing. The gym is open to competitors and non-competitors, men and women, and the club prefers members be at least 12 years old. Coaches focus first on boxers preparing for a bout.
All new members start at a beginner workout with no contact until coaches judge them ready for light sparring. The gym has an 18x18 ring, heavy bags, double end bags, uppercut bags, a weight room and treadmills. Members must buy their own handwraps and a mouthpiece. Membership dues are $75 for the first month and $30 monthly after that, with a $5 discount for automatic payments, and drop-in classes and day passes are $10. The club also helps athletes from lower-income backgrounds with the cost of registration. The gym is at 33 Allen Ave in Portland, Maine, with its weekday and Saturday hours listed below.
