Duckfat serves Belgian-style frites, hand-punched and fried twice in duck fat, along with pressed sandwiches and panini and milkshakes made with gelato from Gelato Fiasco. The potatoes come from Green Thumb Farms in Fryeburg, Maine, and the ducks are raised cage-free in New York.

The original shop at 43 Middle Street in downtown Portland is a cozy space with casual indoor and outdoor dining, and it is open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. A separate walk-up frites window, Duckfat Frites Shack, operates down the alley at 43 Washington Ave, next to Oxbow Blending & Bottling, with a shared beer garden and larger group seating. Each location has its own menu, and seating is first come, first served.
