Swanson MMA teaches mixed martial arts, kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and self-defense to people of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to athletes preparing to compete. The gym is led by Steve Swanson, a former professional MMA fighter and Coachella Valley native who fought in the bantamweight division. The program is especially known for its Youth Self Defense classes.
Classes are offered in group, semi-private and private formats, and private one-on-one sessions can be booked through the website. Drop-in classes are available, and five-session private packages are sold online. The training is held at the Kinetix Health & Performance Center on Wildcat Drive in Palm Desert.
