CVBJJ

CVBJJ, short for Coachella Valley Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo and scholastic wrestling. The school was founded in 1987 by Glen Heggstad and is known in the valley as the first local grappling academy, with a focus on self defense, fitness and competition. Programs include adult jiu-jitsu in both gi and no-gi classes, women's only classes, kids' jiu-jitsu and youth wrestling for ages 3 to 18.

The first class is free, and prospective students can book a trial through the website. Classes run about 24 times a week, and the school is a family-friendly place for beginners and competitors alike. The academy is at 75150 Sheryl Avenue in Palm Desert.
