Golden Gate Atelier

Golden Gate Atelier is an art school that teaches classical drawing and painting to realist artists. Students draw and paint the human figure from life using the sight-size technique, and they also study constructive drawing, anatomy, and perspective. The school offers a full-time program, a visually based anatomy and écorché course, and hands-on workshops in figure, landscape, and still-life painting.

The full-time program is the main route through the school, and students work in still life, landscape, portraiture, and figurative art. Prospective students can arrange a visit to meet the director and current students before applying. The studio is at 4432 Piedmont Ave in Oakland, and the school is open to artists of all experience levels for its shorter courses.
