BlackBox Studios

BlackBox Studios is a ballet and dance studio in Oakland offering classes for children from age 3 and for adults. Classes are taught by experienced teachers who are current or former professional dancers, with an emphasis on high standards alongside teamwork, discipline and dedication. The studio also offers private lessons and studio rental.

Classes are offered in person and over Zoom, so students can join from home. The studio is body inclusive and welcomes artists of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and gender identities. The floors are professionally sprung and finished with marley, which helps protect dancers from injuries on hard, slippery surfaces. The studio sits near the Laurel District, close to the Dimond and Fruitvale neighborhoods, and is home to the professional companies Halcyon Dance Project and Ballet22.
