Classical ballet training for children, youth and adults473 Hudson Street, Oakland, CA

Danspace is a dance school in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood, founded in 1976 by Beth Hoge. It teaches classical ballet alongside modern, jazz and creative movement, using the Corvino approach, and it is the only Bay Area school inspired by that method. Children, youth and adults all take classes, and the adult program focuses especially on beginners, including adults who have never danced before.
Classes follow a year-round schedule rather than a seasonal one, and the school emphasizes safety, gentle correction and a supportive atmosphere over competition. New adult students are welcome to join at any time, and enrollment and registration are handled through the school's studio software or by email. The studio also rents space and hosts Nutcracker storytime performances. Free street parking is available nearby, and the studio is a few blocks from Rockridge BART.
