Stepping Stones Women's Center

Stepping Stones Women's Center is a breast cancer boutique in Mechanicsville, Virginia, fitting women after mastectomy, lumpectomy or reconstruction. The shop sells breast prostheses, bras, post-surgery garments, lymphedema compression garments, wigs and head coverings, and swim and active wear with pockets for a breast form. Custom breast forms made with 3D scanning are offered through American Breast Care.

Fittings are by appointment, and clients are asked to call or request information to schedule one. The center accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid plans, though coverage varies, and wigs are not covered by Medicare or Virginia Medicaid. The business was co-founded in 2005 by a breast cancer survivor and is run by owner Leigh Ann Volz, CFM, who is accredited by the American Board of Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
