Trade association for Wisconsin's newspapers and community publications34 Schroeder Ct., Suite 220, Madison, WI

Wisconsin Newspaper Association is a trade association for the state's newspapers, founded in 1853 to strengthen the industry and defend press freedoms. Its work includes an advertising placement program for advertisers and communications professionals, a news tracking service, and public notice ads that newspapers run for local government. A separate nonprofit foundation, created in 1980, runs student journalism programs, the Better Newspaper Contest and the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame.
Membership is open to Wisconsin newspapers and community publications, which get access to member resources, a career center and a searchable archive of Wisconsin newspapers. The association holds an annual convention for members and is based in Madison. Its board has voted to rename the organization the Wisconsin NewsMedia Association.
