The Playing Field

The Playing Field is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides high-quality early care and education for children from low-income families. Its mission centers on removing the cost, transportation and access barriers that keep many families from programs that meet high standards. The organization describes its care as the highest level of early education available to children from varied socio-economic backgrounds.

Families who rely on childcare subsidies can enroll without being turned away for inability to pay, and the midtown location offers transportation within the city limits of Madison through a partnership with Early Head Start. Over a third of children at the midtown site are funded through Head Start. The center is at 3910 Mineral Point Road in Madison, and it accepts donations and scholarship funds.
