Ice Cream Social

Ice Cream Social is a Madison ice cream shop that makes its ice cream from scratch in small batches. Scoops come in one to three sizes, and the menu includes four-scoop sampler flights, take-home pints, pup cups for dogs, and root beer, strawberry and cold brew floats. Maple waffle cones are made gluten free in house, and the shop lists a range of toppings such as honeycomb candy, Oreos and spicy pecans.

The shop began as a weekly ice cream sale on Instagram in 2020, with proceeds going to local organizations working for social and racial equity, and it has given a share of its profits back to the community since opening its storefront on University Avenue in 2022. It is gluten free throughout, though the shop notes that shared scoops and a dipping well mean cross contamination is possible, so people with severe allergies should tell staff. Private events can be booked, and online ordering is available for pickup.
