Animal Welfare Society, known locally as AWS, is a private nonprofit animal welfare organization founded in 1967. It works as a safety net for pets, placing adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and small animals, and running a veterinary clinic with wellness care, spay and neuter services, and discounted pricing through a companion program.
The adoption center is open Tuesday through Sunday, and the veterinary clinic is open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Animal admissions, or intakes, are also by appointment. The organization runs training classes, a foster program, volunteer opportunities and a lost and found service. It is located at 46 Holland Road in Kennebunk.
