Erie Humane Society

Erie Humane Society is an animal shelter that takes in homeless dogs and cats, places adoptable animals in new homes, and runs a humane law enforcement program that handles animal cruelty reports. Its affordable pet wellness clinic, which opened in 2017 next door to the shelter, offers low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and parasite screenings, along with full-service grooming and end-of-life care that includes private or group cremation.

The shelter is open afternoons most days and closed Sundays, and Wednesday visits are by appointment only. Clinic appointments are made by phone, and grooming is also by appointment. Visitors can use the fenced dog park, which is open from sunup to sundown. Neighbors who want to help can foster, volunteer or donate.
