The Bartender's Handshake

The Bartender's Handshake is a small neighborhood cocktail bar serving craft cocktails, wines and beer alongside homemade bites. The house cocktail list is built around tiki-inspired and mezcal-based drinks such as Karate Kick, Luna Moth and Old Fashioned No. 6, with a separate section of classic cocktails like the Aperol Spritz, Gimlet and Tommy's Margarita. Spirit-free drinks are on the menu too, and the snack list runs from house pretzels and fried dumplings to a veggie dog.

The bar offers carry-out and takes online orders. It is at 3615 Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, and has an events page for booking. Some drinks are discounted before 6 PM, including the Aperol Spritz, Garibaldi and select wines.
