Chesapeake Humane Society

Chesapeake Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal welfare organization founded in 1972 that works to promote the welfare of companion animals across Hampton Roads. It runs a low-cost veterinary clinic offering spay and neuter, dental cleanings, soft tissue surgery and vaccinations, along with an adoption program for dogs, cats and small animals.

The society also runs a Pet Food Pantry, a Crisis Boarding program that cares for pets while families face hardship, and a foster care program. It does not receive government funding and relies on donations, program fees and sponsorships. Clinic services are by appointment only, and adoption applications must be received by 3:30 PM. The main clinic is on North Battlefield Boulevard in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, and the adoption center is on New Mill Drive.
