Franklin Barbecue

Franklin Barbecue is a well-known Austin barbecue restaurant built around smoked brisket, which the owners say is always USDA Prime. The menu also includes pork spare ribs, pulled pork, turkey, house sausage, beef rib on weekends, chopped beef and brisket sandwiches, sides like potato salad and pinto beans, and pies such as bourbon banana and pecan. Aaron Franklin, a James Beard Award winner, co-owns the restaurant with his wife Stacy.

Lunch runs Tuesday through Sunday until the barbecue sells out, usually around 2 or 3 PM, and the restaurant is closed on Mondays. Takeout is available, and orders can be preordered ahead of time for pickup. Gift cards are good for the restaurant or preorders, and brisket can be shipped through Goldbelly. The restaurant also hosts private events at Franklin Backyard, a separate space on Anchor Lane in the Anchor Lane area of Austin.
