Service Employees International Union

The Service Employees International Union is a union of about 2 million members working in healthcare, the public sector and property services. Its members include home care workers, security officers, janitors, airport workers, childcare providers and nurses, and the union is known for the Fight for $15 and a Union campaign that grew out of fast-food worker strikes.

Workers who want to get connected or learn how colleagues are organizing can find their local through the Local Union Locator, which also gives members access to their workplace bargaining agreement. The press team handles statements and releases on workers' issues. The union traces its roots to 1921, when it formed in Chicago as the Building Service Employees Union, and its national headquarters is in Washington, DC.
