El Rey del Taco

El Rey del Taco serves Oaxacan-style tacos from a food truck in Raleigh, with corn tortillas made fresh each day. The menu covers asada, barbacoa, tripa, cabeza, carnitas, chorizo, pollo, grilled tilapia and a veggie taco with mushrooms, peppers and avocado. Tortas are the other specialty, built on telera rolls baked by Neomonde Bakery in Morrisville, and quesadillas are made to order with fresh tortillas.

Orders can be placed online, and the truck also takes catering work. Fish and a few other items are not always on the truck, so calling ahead is worth it before heading over. Evening hours run Friday and Saturday into the early morning and Sunday night, and prices quoted are for Friday to Sunday nights at the Hodges Street spot and may change. Drinks include Mexican Coke, Jarritos and horchata.
