UMGASS

UMGASS, the University of Michigan Gilbert & Sullivan Society, is a student-run group that stages Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Founded in 1947, it is described on its site as the oldest student-run society of its kind in the country. Recent productions have included The Sorcerer, HMS Pinafore, The Gondoliers and The MacAdo.

The society puts on its shows at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre in Ann Arbor. Tickets are sold through a separate University of Michigan box office line, and donors receive ticket priority and a mailed newsletter. Students interested in singing, acting or working behind the scenes can check the site's involvement page, and auditions are announced there each season.
