Specialty food shops in Ann Arbor

Specialty food shops sell the foods that are hard to find at a regular grocery store, such as imported cheeses, cured deli meats, bakery items and pantry staples like olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Many also put together gift baskets and boxes, and some take orders for layer cakes or coffee cakes for gatherings. In Ann Arbor, you can call ahead to ask whether a shop can slice meats or cheeses to order, and whether it needs notice for custom cakes or large gift orders, since holiday weeks fill up fast. Before you visit, check the hours listed on the shop's page, since some close early or stay closed one day a week. Ask staff for a taste when you are unsure which olive oil or vinegar suits your cooking.
