Sophie Grillet Artist

Sophie Grillet is an Ann Arbor artist who works in oils, acrylics, stone, metal, clay, pastel, drawing and photography. Much of her work is abstract, often with interesting titles, and many pieces draw on her interests in science, math and social justice. She also takes on portraits and cartoons, and she has a background as a cartoonist for British books, magazines and newspapers.

She does art consulting and takes commissions, and she offers occasional drawing and abstract painting lessons, including remote one-on-one sessions. Visits to the studio can be booked in advance. Her clients are mostly in southeast Michigan and the Detroit area, and she has been a docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art since 2004. The studio is at 802 Mount Vernon Avenue in Ann Arbor.
