The Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop is a nonprofit resale store that sells clothing, furniture, books, toys, household goods, footwear, music gear, antiques and fashion donated by the community. Profits go to Ann Arbor Public Schools PTOs and school clubs, teams and organizations that take part, to fund student enrichment. The shop has been operating since 1993 and occupies a large building on South Industrial Highway in the area locals call Re-Sale Row.
Shopping is open Thursday through Sunday, and donations are accepted Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on set hours, weather permitting, so it's worth calling ahead on rainy or snowy days because wet donations are turned away. Furniture is picked up by arrangement through email. A second building at 2284A S. Industrial Hwy. holds a smaller showcase of unique finds, and the shop offers a weekly color-tag discount with 10% of sales going to a different school each Saturday.
