Waterfront Seafood combines a fish market, a restaurant, a sushi bar and an oyster bar under one roof. The business began in 1984 as a family fish market and grew from there. Its menu centers on fresh fish bought from the same suppliers for years, with weekly picks like halibut, walleye, sea scallops, oysters and Gulf shrimp. Popular recipes on the site include glazed grilled salmon and oyster Rockefeller casserole.

Staff are glad to talk through cooking techniques, seasonings and storage, and the market also stocks spices and kitchen tools. Guests can order from the menu, sit down for a meal, or pick up seafood to cook at home. Fish is butchered on site, and there is an events room. A second location in Ankeny offers the same mix.
