NAEYC-accredited child development center for infants and young children3400 Lowell St., NW Washington, DC
KinderHaus is a child development center that takes children from infancy through pre-K, with a play-based, research-driven curriculum. The school is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and licensed by the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent. Its founder, Debbie Lane, started the center in 1991 in Chevy Chase with five children and two staff, and the Cleveland Park campus opened in 1996.
The campus has classrooms organized by themes and an outdoor area with climbing structures, sandboxes, trike paths and dramatic play equipment. Families follow their child's day through a mobile app with teacher observations, photos and videos. Parents interested in a spot should submit a preliminary application, keeping in mind that applying does not guarantee admission. The center is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
