The Opportunity Alliance

The Opportunity Alliance is a Community Action Agency whose work spans mental health, childcare, housing and basic needs support. Its Broadway Crossings Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit has eight beds for adults in an acute emotional or mental health crisis who don't need psychiatric hospitalization, and it also takes adults leaving acute psychiatric care who need help returning to community life.

Access begins with The Maine Crisis Line, which is staffed around the clock by phone, text or chat and can refer callers to mobile outreach for an in-person evaluation and an individualized crisis plan. The organization serves more than 24,000 people a year and works mainly in Cumberland County. The Broadway Crossings unit is located in South Portland.
