Frontier Aerospace

Frontier Aerospace designs, builds and tests rocket propulsion, with a focus on hypergolic bipropellant thrusters and engines for in-space and launch systems. Its flight-ready engines have been used on missions from Earth's atmosphere to the Moon, including TALOS thrusters on a lunar lander, and it has won a flight contract for a divert thruster on a missile interceptor. The company handles concept development, design, additive manufacturing, testing, qualification and production.

Customers include NASA and other civil, commercial and national security space programs. The company operates a full-scale hot-fire test stand rated up to 1,000 lbf and a vacuum test facility. Its address is on Guardian Street in Simi Valley. Frontier was founded in 1997 by Jim McKinnon, who previously worked at Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne.
