Ars Obscura Bookbinding & Restoration Co.

Ars Obscura is a traditional bookbindery that handles restoration, custom fine binding and archival boxes. The shop restores broken or damaged books, including Bibles and family records, re-hinges covers that have separated from the text block, and makes clamshell boxes and slipcases for valuable books, manuscripts and documents. Gold tooling and leather dyeing are among its finishing techniques.

Work is by appointment only, Monday through Saturday, and the shop does not take walk-ins. Contact is by phone or text, or by email. Customers can also book the basic bookbinding classes the shop offers.
