Staump Music School

Staump Music School teaches drums, guitar, voice, piano, flute, bass, ukulele and music composition and recording to kids and some adults. Students can join weekly group classes, including Rock Band classes where beginners learn guitar, drums and piano together toward a performance, or take private lessons built around each student's goals. Tim Staump opened the school in 2008, and it is known for its student concert productions and performance experience.

There are no contracts, and lessons are month-to-month, so families can start and stop whenever they like. Students do not have to perform live, though some do. Kids can start at age 4, and the school also offers a free choir program through its nonprofit, Elev8 Arts Foundation. The school is at 9530 Pathway St. in Santee and also draws students from nearby East County communities.
