Cocina del Charro

Cocina del Charro is a family-run Mexican restaurant that has served casual meals in North County San Diego since 1978. It is known for its shrimp mini chimichangas, chicken soup, cochinita pibil wrapped in banana leaves, and the Cancun burrito, a large flour tortilla filled with garlic butter shrimp in a chipotle sour cream sauce. The menu also includes carne asada, fajitas, and a range of tacos and enchiladas.

The restaurant takes call-ahead reservations and pre-paid curbside pickup, and families are welcome. Weekend brunch is served on Sundays, and happy hour runs weekdays from 3 to 6 pm on margaritas and appetizers, in the bar and on the patio. Both locations have a patio for outdoor dining. The San Marcos restaurant is on West San Marcos Boulevard, and there is a second location in Escondido.
