Claytime Ceramics

Claytime Ceramics is a creative studio in Ocean Beach, San Diego, offering pottery wheel throwing classes, hand-building workshops, ceramic painting with pre-made pieces, and pregnancy belly bowls made from a mold of the expectant parent's belly. The studio also runs half-day and full-day summer camps for young artists and themed evening painting sessions, and it offers henna tattoos, tie-dye, mosaics and canvas painting. Owner Caroline Anthony, a former lawyer, teaches many of the classes herself.

The studio is at Bacon Street in Ocean Beach and is open Monday through Saturday with shorter hours on Sunday. Ceramic painting needs no experience, and the Friday and Saturday evening sessions are BYOB, with prices including the ceramics, paints and a 90-minute session. Gift certificates are available, and bookings are made online.
