The Upper Paw

The Upper Paw is a private dog training and behavior modification business run by Melissa Cotter, a trainer who came to the work after struggling with her own dog's behavior. The focus is on new issues and long-standing behavior problems, with work aimed at helping families keep their dogs at home rather than on obedience drills alone.

Training is done in the dog's home, where the first session runs two to three hours and follow-up sessions can be booked as needed for social situations or more serious issues. The rate is $100 per hour plus mileage and materials, with discounts for seniors, service members and bundled sessions. Appointments are made by phone, text, email or the contact form on the website.
