Winthrop University

Winthrop University's West Center is home to the Office of Recreational Services and the Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance. The building has more than 11,000 square feet of weight room and cardio space, a four-court gymnasium, an eighth-mile indoor track, a 36-foot climbing wall, four racquetball courts, an eight-lane 25-yard pool, two fitness studios and five academic classrooms.

Visitors who want to park on campus need a visitor or temporary permit from the Winthrop University Police Department, which can be requested online before or after arriving. The building was designed to meet LEED Silver standards, and it has bike racks, showers and changing rooms for people who walk or bike to class. Its pool water is reclaimed and reused, saving about 200,000 gallons a year. The West Center is on Oakland Avenue in Rock Hill.
